The New Zealand Winter Games have announced the ambassadors for the 2019 event just over two weeks before the event gets underway.

Winter Games NZ are are a multi-winter sports event held in New Zealand, with international competitors taking part in Alpine skiing, curling, cross-country, freeride, freeski, ice hockey and snowboarding at locations across the country. 

The four New Zealand athlete ambassadors have bee unveiled as the four youngest members of the country's Winter Olympics team selected to compete at Pyeongchang 2018.

These include big air snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and halfpipe freeski athlete Nico Porteous, winner of bronze medals in South Korea at the ages of just 16.

Sadowski-Synnott was New Zealand's first Olympic medallist in 26 years, while Porteous is their youngest ever medal winner at 16 years and 91 days.

Also selected as ambassadors are big air and slopestyle skier Tiarn Collins, and Alpine skier Alice Robinson.

More athletes have also been confirmed as competing at 2019 Winter Games NZ, due to take place from August 23 to September 7.

Estonia's Kelly Sidaru, the 2019 International Ski Federation World Championships gold medallist and seven times X Games champion by the age of 17, will compete in the freeski events.

Cassie Sharpe, Canada's Pyeongchang 2018 gold medallist at halfpipe, is also due to participate, as will previous Olympic champion cross-country skier Jessie Diggins of the United States.
