Italy’s Ivan Federico pulled off a surprising win to take home the men’s skateboard park gold medal on the final day of the 2019 Summer X Games in Minneapolis.

In an highly-competitive final at the U.S. Bank Stadium, Federico secured his first X Games medal after a tricky run.

After missing the podium in the men’s skateboard street event yesterday, the United States' Jagger Eaton claimed silver.

Compatriot Alex Sorgente, the defending champion in the discipline, had to settle for bronze.

Among today’s other winners was Japan’s Aori Nishimura, who was the highest scorer in women’s skateboard street - marking her second gold and fourth medal in the discipline.

Nishimura triumphed on 92 points with 11-year-old countrywoman Momiji Nishiya finishing second on 90 points.

Rounding off the podium was defending champion Mariah Duran of the US with 88.33 points.

Medals were also awarded today in the men’s skateboard street best trick and BMX park best trick events.

The former was won by America's Nyjah Huston with a cab flip back lip into a fakie 360 kickflip.

It was the first skateboard street best trick contest at an X Games since 2003.

The BMX park best trick title went to Canada’s Mike Varga with a tailwhip 900.

Completing today’s list of victors was Daniel Mischler with a repeat gold medal-winning performance in hooligan racing.

With 48 racers initially lined up, Mischler clocked a time of 2min 49.077sec in the final to edge out Tony Alves and Kole King for the top spot.

Alves finished 3.348 seconds behind, while King was 3.579 seconds back.

Next year's X Games in Minneapolis is due to take place from July 16 to 20.
