Host Montenegro and Monaco claimed the respective men's and women's team gold medals on the last day of judo competition at the Games of the Small States of Europe.

Montenegro beat Cyprus in the men's final at SC Cetinje, while Monaco's women finished top of their round-robin group with four wins out of four. 

Another sport finishing today was bowls with Luxembourg securing two of the three gold medals on offer at BC Slovenska plaza in Budva.

Claudio Contardi defeated Andorra's Philippe Santmann 13-8 in the men's petanque singles final and Nathalie Demange overcame Indira Ongaro 13-9 in an all-Luxembourg final in the women's equivalent.

An all-Montenegrin men's lyonnaise singles gold medal match saw Miroslav Petković beat Tomislav Ranković 13-5.

Swimming also came to an end today with five more gold medals going to Luxembourg, who finished on 15 in all at Morača Sports Center in Podgorica.

Two of the country's wins came courtesy of Julien Henx, in the men's 50 metres freestyle in 23.14sec and in the men's 50m butterfly in 24.30.

The first of those was shared with Cyprus' Omiros Zagkas.

There was also a double success for Luxembourg's Raphaël Stacchiotti, winner of the men's 50m backstroke in 26.33 and the men's 400m medley in 4min 24.33sec with the former shared with Iceland's Kolbeinn Hrafnkelsson.

Completing the nation's list of victors was Pit Brandenburger in the men’s 200m freestyle in 1:52.60.

Iceland had four other swimming gold medallists on top of Hrafnkelsson thanks to victories for Eygló Ósk Gústafsdóttir in the women's 50m backstroke in 29.46, Anton Sveinn McKee in the men's 100m breaststroke in 1:00.33 and the country's men's and women's 4x100m medley relay teams in respective times of 3:46.63 and 4:20.16.

There was also plenty of joy for Iceland on the second day of athletics competition as they added five gold medals to their tally at SC Topolica in Bar.

Among the country's podium toppers were Þórdís Eva Steinsdóttir in the women's 400m hurdles in 56.39 and Fjóla Signý Hannesdóttir in the women's 400m hurdles in 62.60.

There were also triumphs for Ívar Kristinn Jasonarson in the men's 400m hurdles in 52.31, Hlynur Andrésson in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase in 8:57.20 and, out in the field, Hafdís Sigurðardóttir in the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.42 metres.

Medals were also won today in shooting with the men's and women's 10m air pistol titles going to Iceland's Ásgeir Sigurgeirsson and Malta's Eleanor Bezzina respectively.

The other winner at Markovici in Budva was Cyprus' Nikolas Kyriakou in the men's trap.

Competition in Montenegro is due to continue tomorrow.

Medals will be up for grabs in three sports.
