This month's Winter Universiade has been given an immediate legacy after the 2020 World Junior Curling Championships were awarded to Krasnoyarsk.
Around 3,000 athletes took part in the student event in the Russian city between March 2 and 12.
Organisers were keen to stress how future sporting competitions could be held there as part of the legacy and the World Curling Federation (WCF) has become the first to oblige.
Their junior event will be held between February 15 and 22 next year in the Siberian city.
Action will take place at the Crystal Ice Arena, a 3,500-seater venue where ice hockey was played during the Universiade.
Curling at the Universiade was held at the Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace.
"Krasnoyarsk proved to be an excellent host for the recent winter university games and we are delighted to take another curling event there next season," said WCF President Kate Caithness.
"I am in no doubt that the success of the Winter Universiade will be replicated for our young junior athletes and we look forward to working once more with the Russian Curling Federation (RCF) and the local Organising Committee from this region."
Russia held the World Mixed Curling Championships in Kazan in 2016 and the world juniors in Sochi in 2013, before the Winter Olympics there a year later.
"I am very glad that World Curling Federation has appointed Russia to be the host country for the World Junior Curling Championships once again," said RCF President Dmitry Svischev.
"The World Junior Curling Championships 2020 will take place in the city of Krasnoyarsk in the heart of Siberia.
"The upcoming competition will be very special for us, considering the fact that this year our women's team won the gold medals.
"That means they will have a status of defending champions representing Russia in a home arena.
"I am sure the championship will demonstrate a high level of organisation, which was also a prominent feature at the Winter Universiade that Krasnoyarsk hosted a couple weeks ago.
"In the following days, we are planning a meeting with the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk region in order to form the Organising Committee for the event."
