Germany's Simon Rösner defeated Egypt's defending champion Ali Farag to become the only non-Egyptian in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) US Open finals at Philadelphia's Drexel University.

The world number five overcame last year's title holder in four games to become the first German player to reach the men's final at the World Tour Platinum event.

Rösner came from a game down to win, 4-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-6.

"I was able to play my attacking squash and I'm very pleased and relieved with my performance," said Rösner.

"It seems like the US is good for me.

"It has a lot to do with how comfortable you are and how the place is treating you.

"After not making the semis before and now reaching the final, it is huge for me.

"Life is treating me well at the moment, so I just want to continue on that wave and play my best squash in the final tomorrow."

Rösner will play world number one Mohamed Elshorbagy in the title decider match tomorrow.

The two-time US Open champion also came from a game down to make the final in a marathon 78 minute match.

Elshorbagy overturned the one game deficit to win 7-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-6 over world number eight Paul Coll of New Zealand.

"I've reached my fourth US Open final in the last five years," the Egyptian said.

"I have great memories here, this is the tournament that got me to world number one four years ago and I come back here every year having those great memories.

"I'm really happy to be back in the final, I lost it here last year and I was disappointed, but I lost because my opponent was the better player."

In the head to head, Elshorbagy has won all 14 of his career meetings against Rösner.

A new champion is guaranteed to be crowned in the women's draw, as world number one Nour El Sherbini and Raneem El Welily progressed to the final.

Neither Egyptian has won the title before.

In both the women's semi-finals, the victors also had to come from a game down.

El Sherbini overcame France's Camille Serme, 10-12, 11-7, 12-10, 11-8 while El Welily battled past Wales' Tesni Evans 12-14, 11-7, 14-12, 13-11.

Both matches lasted over an hour and the finalists will face off for the 19th time on the PSA Tour.

El Sherbini and El Welily have nine wins apiece ahead of the final.
