Kare Adenegan set a Championship record to beat team-mate Hannah Cockroft to women's T34 100 metres gold at the World Para Athletics European Championships in Berlin.

The British duo were expected to go head-to-head in the Friedrich Ludwig Jahnsportpark.

Adenegan was slightly slower than the world record 16.80sec she set last month in London at the Anniversary Games.

The 17-year-old was still able to clinch victory, with her time of 17.38 still a Championship record.

Cockroft would end as the silver medallist in 17.95, while Belgium's Joyce Lefervre was third in 20.33.

There was also a Championship record in the men's event, with The Netherlands' Stefan Rusch posting a time of 16.14 to win gold.

Finland's Henry Manni took the silver medal ahead of Switzerland's Bojan Mitic, after they finished in 16.44 and 16.75 respectively.

There was a dominant victory for local favourite Johannes Floors, with the German clinching men's T62 200m gold in a time of 21.37.

He ended some way clear of Greece's Stylianos Malakopoulous, who posted a personal best 24.43 to finish second.

Bronze was earned by Italy's Andrea Lanfri, as he clocked 24.82.

Finland's Leo Pejja Tahti eased to victory in the men’s T54 400m competition, as he achieved a Championship record 46.73.

Nathan Maguire earned silver as the British athlete managed a time of 48.78, while The Netherlands' Kenny van Weeghel ended third in 49.20.

Portugal's Sandro Patricio Correia Baessa was the victor in the men's T20 400m in a time of 49.60.

Italy's Raffaele Di Maggio and Portugal's Carlos Cavalho Freitas achieved personal bests of 50.86 and 52.16 to round off the podium.
