Panama thrashed Germany to confirm that they will advance ©WBSC

United States and hosts Panama both advanced to the super round phase of the Under-15 Baseball World Cup as they won rain-delayed matches today.

Both countries were forced to complete their group phase campaigns on the scheduled rest day today after the weather caused cancellations earlier in the schedule.

They each had a record of three victories and a defeat going into today's games with Brazil, on two wins and two defeats, also in with a slim chance of qualifying from Group A.

That possibility was quickly extinguished as the US, who resumed their game 4-0 up, went on to seal an 8-0 victory over the Brazilians at the Estadio Kenny Serracín in David.

The result also put Panama through but the home side did what they needed to anyway, beating Germany 18-0.

Both countries also jumped in front of Chinese Taipei, who had already qualified for the super round, in the standings.

The Americans won the pool with Panama second, as the Taiwanese dropped to third.

Back-to-back defending champions Cuba, Japan and Dominican Republic had already qualified from Group B for the super round, which begins tomorrow.

Each country will play the qualifiers from the other group with points carrying over.

The top two will then contest the final.

The consolation round phase will also begin tomorrow.
