Sweden won the sprint relay title as the World Orienteering Championships continued today in Latvia's capital Riga.

Their team of Tove Alexandersson, Emil Svensk, Jonas Leandersson and Karolin Ohlsson triumphed in a combined time of 58min 27sec.

They led throughout the transitions as they clinched the gold medal.

Switzerland were second in the mixed event, with Elena Roos, Florian Howald, Fabian Hertner and Judith Wyder ending in 58:58.

Denmark won the bronze as they climbed from seventh at the final change.

Maja Alm brought home their team - also featuring Amanda Falck Weber, Tue Lassen and Jakob Edsen - to third place in 59:14.

Norway were fourth with Czech Republic fifth.

After a rest day tomorrow, the middle distance events will be held on Tuesday (August 7).
