The Canadian Paralympic Committee will search for potential future Paralympians at athlete identification events in Victoria and Montreal.

The event in Victoria will take place on May 26 with the equivalent in Montreal set for June 9.

The events are open to athletes between the ages of 14 and 35 with a physical or visual disability, including people who have never participated in sport before.

Participants will go through a series of physical tests to help find out which sports are most suitable to them.

Paralympic medallists Mollie Jepsen and Alex Dupont will act as ambassadors at the events.

Jepsen, who won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in Para-Alpine skiing at Pyeongchang 2018 in March, said: "Being a Paralympian is one of my greatest achievements, and I'm excited to have the chance to potentially introduce new athletes to Paralympic sport.

"It should be a great day of activities and hopefully one day someone from the event can join us at the Paralympic Games."

Rio 2016 bronze medallist Dupont, a wheelchair racer, added: "Having the access and opportunity to participate in sport is so important for people with disabilities.

"Paralympian Search is a great event to not only discover high-potential athletes but provide resources for people to continue being active.

"Every Paralympian has a unique story - I decided to try wheelchair racing after seeing it on TV during the Athens Paralympics, and I hope to help others reach their dreams as well."
