China’s Rio 2016 Paralympic gold medallist Liu Cuiqing broke the T11 women’s 400 metre world record on the third and final day of action at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing.

The 26-year-old recorded a time of 56.00sec on the track to ensure she broke the world record.

Cuiqing was the only competitor to finish the race as her compatriot Zhou Guohua was disqualified.

Elsewhere on the track, Jin Hua continued the Chinese dominance with a victory in the men's T37 5,000m final, eventually crossing the line in a time of 10min 32.85sec.

Zhang Ying was the runner-up with a time of 10:58.01.

The Chinese continued to monopolise the competition in the field as 40-year-old Yang Liwan, who won two gold medals yesterday, came out on top in the F54 women’s javelin competition with a best score of 7.33 metres.

Vietnamese duo Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy and Tran Thi Tu finished some way behind in second and third with scores of 4.67 and 4.16 respectively.

The excellent performance by Chinese athletes today meant that they finished top of the medals table with a total of 64 gold, 17 silver and 10 bronze medals.

The three-day event saw 268 athletes from 16 countries descend on Beijing.

The 2018 World Para-Athletics Grand Prix series now heads to Rieti in Italy for the fourth of nine Grand Prix set to take place around the world this year.
