Double Paralympic sprint gold medallist Zhou Guohua recorded a world leading attempt in the long jump to take gold at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing.

Zhou, who won two gold medals on the track at last year's World Championships in London, leapt 4.99 metres to win the T11/12 category at the China Administration of Sports for Persons with Disabilities complex.

Spaniard Meritxell Playa Faus claimed silver with a beast of 4.98m.

Zhou's effort was five centimetres further than Brazil’s Paralympic champion Silvania Costa de Oliveira, who made her return to international competition last month following the birth of her child in 2017.

Paralympic silver medallist Hongjie Chen continued China's strong performance in the field, topping the podium in the T46/47 high jump with a best attempt of 2.00m.

Chinese Taipei’s Chuan Hui Yang leapt 6.60m for gold and the world lead in the men's long jump T11 and Malaysia’s Wong Kar Gee also went top of the world rankings in the T12 event having jumped 7.22m.

China’s multiple Paralympic and world champion Zhou Hongzhuan produced another superb display on the track as she clinched gold in the 100m T53.

The formidable wheelchair racer clocked 16.99sec to move to the summit of the world rankings.

Paralympic and world silver medallist Yang Liu, also of China, won the men's 100m T54 in a time of 14.38, the second fastest recorded this year.

It was not just the Chinese athletes who impressed, however, as Japan’s Tanaka Teruyo reigned supreme in the women's 100m T52 as she crossed the line in 23.47.

American Rigo Isaiah took victory in the men's equivalent in 18.24.
