Swedish judokas clinched two of the four gold medals on offer on day two of the International Judo Federation Antalya Grand Prix at the Antalya Arena Spor Salonu.

Tommy Macias claimed the first Swedish gold of the day thanks to his victory in the men’s under-73 kilogram competition, which came after he threw South Korea’s An Changrim with a sumi-gaeshi for ippon after just 50 seconds of the contest.

Iran’s Mohammad Mohammadi and Azerbaijan’s Hidayat Heydarov shared bronze.

The Swedish double was completed by Anna Bernholm, who followed up her title win in last year’s Grand Slam Abu Dhabi with victory in Antalya in the women’s under-70kg.

She did so by performing forcing 2015 Pan American Games champion Kelita Zupancic from Canada to submit to a juji-gatame.

Sally Conway of Great Britain and Austria’s Michaela Polleres shared the bronze medal.

The second men’s competition of the day saw Vedat Albayrak of host nation Turkey, who represented Greece at Rio 2016 under the name Roman Moustopoulos, come out on top in the men’s under-81kg thanks to a yoko-shihi-gatame hold against Jack Hatton of the United States.

Georgia’s Tato Grigalashvili and Moldova’s Dorin Gotonoaga shared bronze.

In the other women’s event, Austria’s Magdalena Krssakova claimed victory in the under-63kg event by beating Russia’s Valentina Kostenko with an ippon with just six seconds left on the clock.

Alexia Castilhos of Brazil and Busra Katipoglu of host nation Turkey shared third place.

The three-day competition concludes tomorrow with the men in action at under-90kg, under-100kg and over-100kg whilst the women do battle at under-74kg and over-74kg level.

The event is the last on the judo calendar before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification phase opens.
