Henrieta Farkašová and Marek Kubacka followed up their victories in the visually impaired event on day one of the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup in Kranjska Gora by claiming golds on the second and final day of the competition.

Five-time Paralympic champion Farkašová recorded a time of 2 mins 23.93 secs on the Slovenian course to claim her second gold medal in as many days ahead of Australia’s Melissa Perrine, who was 4.91 seconds behind.

No bronze medal was awarded as South Korea’s Yang Jae Rim was disqualified after her first run in the three-competitor race.

Kubacka put in a sublime performance in the men’s event with his total time of 2:10.88 putting him 6.87 seconds ahead of compatriot and Sochi 2014 gold medallist Jakub Krako, who took silver.

Spain’s three-time Paralympic gold medallist Jon Santacana collected bronze.

After only finishing second in yesterday’s race, Marie Bochet, who won four gold medals at Sochi 2014, recovered to finish first this time around in the women’s standing with a time of 2:22.73.

After her win, Bochet said: “Today was much better than yesterday.

“I needed to overcome bad feelings, forget about last day and do my best.”

Yesterday’s surprise victor, neutral athlete Varvara Voronchikhina, finished second.

Petra Smarzova, of Slovakia, occupied the last spot on the podium but was still 14.28 seconds behind Bochet’s winning time.

Arguably the most surprising result of the day took place in the women’s sitting with Linda van Impelen of The Netherlands securing her first-ever World Cup title in a time of 2:41.30

Victoria Pendergast of Australia and Switzerland's Stephani Victor claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Pre-race favourite Claudia Lösch, a seven-time Paralympic medallist was disqualified from the competition.

Following her shock victory, van Impelen said: “I am very happy. Claudia [Lösch] is very good and I am happy I could beat her today.”

Norway’s 18-year-old Jesper Pedersen secured his fifth gold of the season in the men’s sitting, recording an overall time of 2:19.08.

After the race, Pedersen, who finished just 0.85 seconds clear of Jeroen Kampschreur from The Netherlands, said: “I feel amazing.

“It was a really good course and everything was perfect.

“The next World Cup event will be fun.”

Yohann Taberlet of France claimed Bronze.
