Organisers of next year's World Para Swimming European Championships have launched a search to find 600 volunteers for the event in Dublin.

Roles are available for the event, due to be held at the National Aquatic Centre in the National Sports Campus from August 13 to 19, across nine different areas.

This includes accreditation, anti-doping, event operation, media services, medical, athlete services, sport and competition, transport and venue operations.

"Next year we are hosting one of the biggest sporting events that Ireland will see and one of the biggest international events that we have ever held," Paralympics Ireland President John Fulham said.

"This is a huge logistical undertaking and we will need supporters of Paralympic sport, swimming and sport in general to help us to make this a genuinely world-class sporting occasion that we can be truly proud of.

"Ireland is a great sporting nation and we have a huge tradition of volunteerism so we are urging the public to get behind these Championships and make an important contribution to Irish Paralympic sport."

Around 500 athletes representing more than 40 nations are set to participate at the European Championships in the Irish capital.

Two sessions are scheduled for each competition day, with over 500 races expected to be on the programme.

Over 500 medals will be presented during the event.

The launch of the call for volunteers comes after financial services company Allianz was confirmed as the title sponsor of the Championships.

In August, Sinéad Gordon was appointed as event director.

Dublin was awarded the event in July.
