Sweden's Stina Nilsson will be hoping to return to winning form when participating in the first sprint freestyle event of the International Ski Federation World Cup season in Davos.

It will mark the third World Cup meeting of the season after legs in Ruka and Lillehammer.

Nilsson has won four sprint World Cup events in a row, across both free and classic disciplines, before finishing fifth last week in the Norwegian resort.

But in freestyle events, she has won her last three outings in Falun, Otepää and at the World Cup final in Quebec.

Marit Bjørgen of Norway remains the only woman to have won more consecutively - although her total of nine successive victories in 2004 and 2005 remains a long way off.

Maiken Caspersen Falla of Norway is the defending champion in Davos and could be Nilsson closest rival this time around after winning in Lillehammer last week.

Both qualifying and finals will take place tomorrow in both male and female sprint female events in Davos tomorrow.

Norway's Johannes Høsflot Klæbo has won the first two men's sprint World Cup events of this season, the sprint classic in Lillehammer on December 2 and the sprint classic in Ruka (3-Days Tour) on 24 November.

On Sunday (December 10), competition will take place over 10 kilometres freestyle for men and 15km for women.

The event will take place after the suspensions issued by both the International Olympic Committee and FIS against six Russian cross-country skiers - Alexander Legkov, Maxim Vylezhanin, Evgeniy Belov, Julia Ivanova, Evgenia Shapovalova and Alexey Petukhov - accused of being involved in the "systemic manipulation" of doping samples at Sochi 2014.

Sergey Ustiugov will lead the Russian team in their absence.
