The Swiss team saw off competition from Slovakia, Germany and hosts Austria to take the ACT 4 artistic cycling crown at the International Cycling Union (UCI) Indoor Cycling Championships at Hallenradsport WM in Dornbirn.

First to take the floor in the final was the Austrian team, backed by a large home crowd, who finished with a points total of 174.75.

Next up were Slovakia who posted a score of 184.03 to leapfrog Austria and break the hearts of the home crowd.

However, the real contest was in the final two routines as favourites Switzerland had to overcome challengers Germany's score of 216.04.

The Swiss team, consisting of Melanie and Jennifer Schmid, along with Céline Burlet and Flavia Zuber, put in a splendid routine to post a final score of 225.13 and lift the title.

Tomorrow sees the pair, as well as single men's and women's artistic cycling, get underway as well as more cycle-ball group matches.
