A selection of South Korea’s biggest K-pop stars have come together in Seoul to celebrate the beginning of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Torch Relay in the host country.

Gwanghwamun Square played host to the start of the "One Passion, Korea Korea" concert, where four-piece rock band Trans Fiction were among the performers.

They were joined by the likes of veteran folk singer Yang Hee-eun and hip-hop trio MFBTY, consisting of Tiger JK, Yoon Mi-rae, and Bizzy.

K-pop acts Ulala Session, Momoland and Cosmic Girls were also in attendance.

Big name K-pop idol bands such as Day6, NCT 127, B.A.P, BtoB and Twice were some of the last acts to take to the stage.

Day6 performed the emotional ballad "Congratulations", while BtoB and Twice danced to their latest singles, "Missing You" and "Likey".

Rounding out the event in the capital were boy bands BTS and EXO.

Another part of the K-pop concert celebrating the arrival of the Olympic flame was simultaneously held at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park in Incheon.

Headlining the event were band Daybreak and pop sensation Taeyang.

In June, it had been announced that Taeyang has become an honorary ambassador for Pyeongchang 2018.

The 29-year-old was first thrust into the spotlight in 2006 as part of boy band Big Bang.

Big Bang won the Best Worldwide Act prize at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards and were the first Korean act to be named on two Forbes Magazine lists - the Celebrity 100 and the 30 under-30 most influential musicians in the world.

Following the band's huge success and the awards, Taeyang forged a career as a solo artist and picked up some notable accolades along the way.

They include best male artist at the Asian Music Awards in 2014 and song of the year at the 2015 Golden Disc Awards for Eyes, Nose, Lips.

The Olympic flame for Pyeongchang 2018 landed yesterday at Incheon, in the north-west of the home nation, on a specially-chartered Korean Air aircraft.

Vancouver 2010 skating gold medallist Kim Yuna had accompanied the flame on its flight from Greece.

Kim carried it from the aircraft in a special safety lamp along with South Korea’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Do Jong-hwan.

Tickets for Pyeongchang 2018 are now available to be purchased offline for the first time.
