The Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Torch has today visited Gangneung on the penultimate day of its Relay prior to the Winter Olympic Games.

The Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Torch has today visited Hongcheon County in Gangwon Province, as the 101-day Relay leading up to the Winter Olympic Games continues.

The Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Torch has arrived in Gangwon, the home province of the Winter Games, after the most politically charged week of the Relay.

The Olympic flame is back in the South Korean capital Seoul, almost 30 years after it first visited the city for the Summer Games of 1988.

The Olympic Torch Relay is already a third of the way through its journey to Pyeongchang.

Olympic organisers promised to "represent the past, present and future" during the passage of the Olympic flame on its journey through Korea. 

It may be known as the "Land of Morning Calm" but as the Olympic Torch began a 2,018 kilometres journey across South Korea, Pyeongchang 2018 organisers are braced for intense speculation as to who will light the final torch at the Opening Ceremony next February.
