Paris will host the conclusion of the men's and women's HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, it has been confirmed.

The French capital will welcome athletes for the competition from June 8 to 10, with the Series winners for 2017-2018 set to be crowned.

Giles Morgan, global head of sponsorship and events at HSBC, claims Paris, the newly named 2024 Olympic host city, is a fitting location for the final event of the Series.

Morgan believes the Series and potential opportunities offered by next year's Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco could help the sport grow further.

"The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series is one of the world's great sporting events and having the newly appointed Olympic host city of Paris as the final leg is a fitting finale," he said.

"This is sport at its most entertaining and spectacular, with some incredible crowds to match, and the fact that it takes place across 10 global cities and four continents makes it really unique.

"While the growth of the sport is very exciting, and the women's game is a big part of driving that growth, there are still new frontiers to be crossed.

"If the growth potential in markets such as the USA can be realised, then it will spark a great acceleration in the growth of rugby sevens globally, making the upcoming Series hugely important for the sport ahead of the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco next year."

Confirmation of Paris as the final round host comes as World Rugby revealed the schedule for next year's Women’s Series, having already announced the men's venues.

It will begin in Dubai on November 30, alongside the men's event in the United Arab Emirates city.

Sydney will then welcome men's and women's action from January 26 to 28 at the Allianz Stadium in the Australian city, before the third round is held in the Japanese city Kitakyushu from April 21 to 22.

The round will take place a week after the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games draw to a close, with rugby sevens set to also feature at the multi-sport event in Australia.

The penultimate event of the Women's Series will take place at the Westhills Stadium in Langford, Canada, with competition being held on May 12 and 13.

Teams will then head to Paris for the finale.

"With the Commonwealth Games in April and Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco in July, 2018 will be quite a year for the men's and women's teams," said Bill Beaumont, World Rugby chairman.

"The HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series is growing considerably each year and I predict this one will be no different, with the action coming to a thrilling climax for the 28 teams in Paris in June."
