Spain claimed their second win from as many matches today ©FIRS

Spain continued their emphatic start to the women's rink hockey tournament on the second day of the 2017 International Roller Sports Federation World Roller Games in Nanjing.

After coasting to a 7-0 victory over Germany yesterday Spain, winners of last year's WorId Championship title in Iquique in Chile, maintained their outstanding form by defeating the United States.

The Europeans eased to an 8-0 win in Group A at the Roller Skate Park.

Germany improved on their thrashing yesterday but were still held 2-2 by France.

In Group B Portugal, World Championships silver medallists, were beaten 5-2 by 2014 champions Argentina.

It proved to be a successful day for South American nations as Chile also took maximum points, overcoming Italy 4-3.

The Games are taking place for the first time in one city, seeing the World Championships of 10 roller disciplines take place simultaneously.

It is due to take place over the course of 15 days featuring different competitions and held at indoor and outdoor facilities.

Events will consist of artistic, speed, rink hockey, inline hockey, roller freestyle, skateboarding, inline freestyle, inline downhill, roller derby and inline Alpine.

It is due to last until September 10.

Around 4,000 athletes from 50 countries are due to compete.
