Britain's rising star Tahnee Seagrave continued her stunning form to win the International Cycling Union (UCI) Mountain Bike World Cup Finals in Val di Sole today.

It came before American Aaron Gwin triumphed in the corresponding men's event.

Seagrave, 22, finished over three seconds clear of France's Myriam Nicole after triumphing in 4min 14.831sec.

It marked her third victory of the season after wins in Leogang and Mont-Ste-Anne.

"Happy to take the win," she said afterwards.

"It's sick, my best season so far."

Nicole was crowned overall World Cup champion, though, after placing second today in 4:17.929.

Tracey Hannah of Australia took third place in 4:18.671.

World champion Rachel Atherton was fourth in a time of 4:21.001 as she recovers from a dislocated shoulder injury suffered earlier in the season at Fort William.

She will be desperate to show that her defeats to fellow Briton Seagrave since her return represent a momentary blip rather than a permanent changing of the guard.

Gwin sealed victory and overall World Cup spoils after winning the men's event in 3:32.905.

France took another silver courtesy of Amaury Pierron, who timed in at 3:34.312.

Pierron's team-mate Loic Bruni took bronze in 3:34.957.

Downhill stars will now prepare for the World Championships taking place from September 5 to 10 in Cairns, Australia.

World Cup Finals action will continue tomorrow in cross-country events.
