Home hope Catharine Pendrel is hoping to return to form when Mont-Ste-Anne in Quebec hosts the fifth round of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Mountain Bike World Cup starting tomorrow.

Pendrel is a four-time winner on a circuit which has hosted a leg of the World Cup almost every year in which the Series has taken place since it began in 1991.

The only exceptions were 1998 and 2010, when the World Championships were held there instead.

Pendrel, a two-time world champion who won an Olympic bronze medal at Rio 2016, has struggled for her best form so far this season.

Team-mate Emily Batty is the Canadian national champion and is ranked eighth in this season's World Cup standings.

Nino Schurter of Switzerland will be the heavy favourite in the men's race after triumphing in all four races so far this season.

Both men and women will race over a 4 kilometre looped course.

Both races are due to take place on Sunday (August 6).

Age group and downhill events are also due to take place.
