Defending champions Cuba Domadores secured their place in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) final after claiming a whitewash victory over Colombia Heroicos today.

Trailing 3-2 from the first leg in Soledad, Cuba ultimately triumphed 7-3 on aggregate following an exceptional display in front of a home crowd at the Coliseo Ciudad Deportiva in Havana.

Three of their victories came courtesy of unanimous points decisions with Yosbany Veitia beating Johan Vargas at flyweight, three-time world champion Lazaro Alvarez Estrada defeating Albeiro Paredes at lightweight and Roniel Iglesias overcoming Ricardo Legarda at welterweight.

Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist Julio La Cruz stopped Jeisson Camargo Gantiva in the fourth round of their light heavyweight contest and super heavyweight Jose Larduet Gómez saw off Junior Gonzalez Garcia inside the first round.

The victory maintains Cuba’s record of not having dropped a single bout all season at the Coliseo Ciudad Deportiva.

Colombia suffered a 5-0 loss when they travelled to Havana for a Group A clash in April.

Awaiting Cuba in their fourth consecutive WSB final are Astana Arlans Kazakhstan, who wrapped up a 7-3 victory over British Lionhearts yesterday in the other last-four encounter.

A date for the final has yet to be scheduled.
