Twelve countries have been confirmed for this year's World Squash Federation (WSF) World Doubles Championships.

Hosts England will lead the field for the event at the National Squash Centre in Manchester, with competition taking place between August 1 and 5.

Men's, women's and mixed doubles competitions will be held with a record 51 pairs taking part.

Other countries set to be involved are Australia, Canada, Colombia, India, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, South Africa and Wales.

Exact pairing details will be confirmed in July after the deadline for final nominations.

However, 13 players from the top 20 of the current men's and women's world rankings are expected to compete.

England are likely to field 2013 world champion Laura Massaro as well as James Willstrop, Alison Waters, Daryl Selby and Sarah-Jane Perry.

Malaysia's team is set to include eight-time world champion Nicol David while Australia should be able to call upon double Commonwealth Games gold medallist David Palmer.

Squash powerhouse Egypt will be absent from the competition.

At the 2016 Championships in Australian city Darwin, the hosts, New Zealand, Scotland, India and Malaysia shared the medals.

Doubles squash will be contested at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games next year.
