France's Koumba Larroque, the reigning junior world champion, claimed gold on the third day of the European Under-23 Wrestling Championships in Szombathely in Hungary.

Larroque, who struck gold for France on the first day of the 2016 Junior World Championships in Mâcon in September, proved to be too good in the women's 69 kilograms event at Arena Savaria.

She stopped current cadet world champion Khanum Velieva of Russia 6-3 in the semi-finals to set up a meeting with last year's silver medallist Martina Kuenz of Austria in this evening's final.

The Frenchwoman was unstoppable though and brushed aside Kuenz 6-1 to secure the crown.

Velieva recovered from her semi-finals disappointment to win one of the bronze medals after she defeated Ukraine's Alla Belinska 8-0.

Romania's Alexandra Nicoleta Anghel secured the second with a narrow 5-4 victory against Norway's Signe Marie Fidje Store.

Former junior world champion Lyubov Ovcharova of Russia was victorious in the 60kg competition after claiming a sublime win in the semi-finals.

She clinched a 14-4 technical fall victory against 2015 senior world champion Oksana Herhel of Ukraine in the final four.

Last year's European junior champion Anastasia Nichita of Moldova was Ovcharova's opponent in the final but the Russian was too strong and secured the gold medal with a comfortable 11-0 win.

Despite failing to make the final, Herhel went on to win a bronze medal after her opponent, Hungary's Viktoria Felho, was forced to withdraw through injury.

The second was claimed by Belarus' Nade Dragunova after she defeated Viktoria Bobeva of Bulgaria 5-4.
