Rio 2016 bronze medallist Geno Petriashvili of Georgia successfully retained his 125 kilograms title on day two of the European Under-23 Wrestling Championships in Szombathely in Hungary.

Petriashvili posted a pair of technical fall victories early today to advance to final for the second year in a row at Arena Savaria.

He defeated Salim Ercan of Turkey 12-2 in his opening bout and junior world champion Kazbek Khubulov of Russia 10-0 in the semi-finals.

The Georgian then clinched the title with another comprehensive victory in the final, defeating Belarus' Vitali Piasniak 10-0.

Khubulov claimed one bronze medal after beating Ercan 10-0 while Kamil Kosciolek of Poland clinched the other after he defeated Slovakia's Tamas Soos 11-0.

Last year’s senior European champion Gadzhimurad Rashidov of Russia was in emphatic form as won the 61kg title. 

The 21-year-old brushed aside Turkey's Sedat Ozdemir 10-0 in the final. 

Azerbaijan's Ali Rahimzade clinched one bronze medal with a 13-2 win over Randy Vock of Switzerland while Ukraine's Ivan Bileichuk missed out on a medal after he was beaten 0-8 by Shota Phartenadze of Georgia.

Murat Erturk of Turkey clinched the 86kg title.

He eliminated junior world champion Arsen-Ali Musalaliev of Russia 11-8 in the last eight and continued his good form into the semi-finals where he overcame Bohdan Hrytsay of Ukraine 8-0. 

He then claimed the gold medal as he got the better of Hungarian Bendeguz Toth in the final 2-0.

Musalaliev recovered from his early exit to take bronze, beating Hrytsay 16-9.

The second was won by Kanan Aliyev as he beat Stefan Reichmuth of Switzerland 2-1.

Success in the 70kg division went the way of Azerbaijan's Gadzhimurad Omarov after he scored the final and most significant point in a 1-1 draw against Russia's Zaurbek Sidakov, the 2016 European Junior Championships silver medallist.

Ukraine's Vasyl Mykhailov secured a bronze medal after defeating Muhammet Akdeniz of Turkey 8-6 while Mirza Skhulukhia of Georgia clinched the second after claiming a 9-5 win over Belarus' Surkho Rashytkhanau.
