Zhanbota Aldabergenova and Baglan Inkarbek of Kazakhstan have claimed the freestyle skiing mixed team aerials gold medal here at the 2017 Winter Universiade on home snow this afternoon.

Much to the delight of the home crowd gathered at the Tabagan Ski Resort, the Kazakh duo won the super final with an emphatic overall score of 167.05 points.

It marked the conclusion of a comfortable day for the pair, who won every stage of the competition convincingly.

Their first run in the super final demonstrated the pair’s dominance.

The Kazakhs recorded a total of 79.17, which was far superior to their Chinese rivals, who could only score 22.91.

With their first run score leaving them with one hand on the trophy, their second attempt earned them 87.88 which guaranteed them the gold.

China's Xu Nuo and Shi Haitao came second after they earned a total of 113.02 from their two attempts in the super final.

Their compatriots, Zhu Yingying and Guo Ziming, joined them on the podium in third but were way back on 87.77.

The bronze medal was Zhu's second in as many days after she claimed gold in the women’s aerials competition yesterday.

On that occasion she got the better of Aldabergenova, who disappointed in the final.

Aldabergenova once again produced the highest scores in both qualification rounds and the final yesterday, before collapsing to third in the super final.
