Mark Cavendish and Tim Kneale feature in a new set of Olympic stamps issued by the Isle of Man Post Office.

To commemorate the success of Great Britain at Rio 2016, the Post Office has issued a celebratory sheetlet featuring high definition images of the competitors from the Isle of Man.

Kneale came fourth in the men’s double trap shooting event while Cavendish achieved silver in the men’s omnium.

"I am a bit blown away at the fact I’m on this in the Isle of Man, something I never thought I’d see," Kneale told IOM Today

"It’s great to get the recognition for the Isle of Man as well as at the same time wave the Manx flag at the biggest sporting event in the world."

Steven Scott of Britain narrowly beat Kneale to the bronze medal in the men's double trap after he won a tense shoot-off.

Australian world number one James Willett was eliminated following a shoot-off against Scott and Kneale who both progressed to the bronze medal match.

Scott shot a perfect 30/30 score to secure third place.

Cavendish, meanwhile, avoided a disqualification on his way to the omnium silver in Rio de Janeiro.

Italy's gold medallist Elia Viviani tumbled to the track floor after he was knocked off his bike by South Korea’s Park Sang-hoon, who had collided with Cavendish.

The race was neutralised and Park had to be stretchered off, with Cavendish seemingly at fault, but he avoided punishment.

Cavendish, who pulled out of this year's Tour de France with five stages to go in order to ensure he was in the best possible condition for this event, ended 13 points adrift in second on 194.

"We along with the rest of the island were proud of Mark Cavendish and Tim Kneale’s achievements and of course the rest of the Team GB athletes," added Maxine Cannon, the Isle of Man Stamps and Coins general manager.

"‘We were delighted to have produced the stamps in recognition of our participation in this truly wonderful sporting event."
