Germany’s Markus Eisenbichler delighted the home crowd by topping the qualification standings at the second stage of the Four Hills Tournament, part of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup calendar, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen today.

The 25-year-old, who finished sixth overall at the opening leg in Oberstdorf yesterday, jumped 138 metres and registered 141.8 points.

Austria’s Stefan Kraft, the winner in Oberstdorf, came second with 138m and 139.9 points, while compatriot Manuel Fettner was third with 139m and 138.4 points.

"Today I'm very satisfied, the feeling during the jump was not that good, but it worked well," Eisenbichler said.

"I can be really satisfied with it today.

"Tomorrow I just have to jump normally again and then I'll see the result later.

"I don't think about a podium finish in the competition tomorrow, others shall worry about that.

"I just want to do my thing."

Overall World Cup leader Domen Prevc of Slovenia was back on track after his problems yesterday, when he finished way back in 26th place.

The 17-year-old was among the frontrunners today, finishing fourth with 137.5m and 135.8 points.

Poland's Kamil Stoch, the runner-up in Oberstdorf, skipped the qualification today due to tiredness.

"The training jumps were good and that's enough for me today," he said.

Fellow countryman Klemens Muranka was disqualified having refused to cooperate with the controller during the equipment check after his jump.

Following the conclusion of the second leg in Garmisch-Partenkirchen tomorrow, the Four Hills Tournament will then move to Austria for competitions in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen on January 4 and 6 respectively.
