Norway’s Daniel Andre Tande finished top of the qualification standings as the first stage of the Four Hills Tournament, which forms part of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup calendar, begun in Oberstdorf in Germany today.

The 22-year-old, who currently finds himself second in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup rankings - 158 points behind leader Domen Prevc of Slovenia, jumped 139 metres to win by 3.4 points.

Poland’s Kamil Stoch took the runners-up spot with a jump of 137.5m and 154.1 points, while Austria’s Stefan Kraft was third with 136m and 151.1 points.

Prevc came eighth on 145.5 points, with older brother Peter joint ninth alongside Austria’s Michael Hayboeck on 144.8.

Double Olympic medallist Peter Prevc is the reigning champion in the prestigious series.

Following the conclusion of the first leg in Oberstdorf tomorrow, the Four Hills Tournament continues on January 1 at another German hill, Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

It will then move to Austria for competitions in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen on January 4 and 6 respectively.

A record 126,000 fans attended the Four Hills Tournament during the 2015-16 campaign.
