World Championships bronze medallist Sung Ji-hyun booked her place in the final of the women’s singles event at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Korea Masters as she swept aside compatriot Ga Eun Kim at the Seogwipo Olympic Stadium.

It proved to be another successful day for the seeded players at the tournament, a BWF Grand Prix Gold level competition, as all five top seeds progressed.

The host nation will have the opportunity to earn a clean sweep as they have a representative in each of the finals.

Sung, Asian champion in 2014, made light work of her team-mate to ensure she will get the chance to compete for the title tomorrow as she beat Ga 21-13, 21-8 in just 31 minutes.

The South Korean will take on another of her team-mates in the final after Jang Mi-lee ousted Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira 21-14, 21-16 in the other last four contest.

Men’s singles top seed Son Wan-ho, who was knocked out at the quarter-final stage at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, was pushed all the way by Indian opponent Parupalli Kashyap in the first game before he secured a 23-21, 21-16 success.

His opponent in the final will be Malaysia’s Daren Liew, who overcame Chun-Wei Chen of Chinese Taipei 21-13, 21-7.

They will go on to face sixth seeded compatriots Kim So-yeong and Chae Yoo-jung after they emerged with a 21-16, 21-15 victory in an all-South Korean affair against Yoo Hae-won and Hye Rin-kim.

Ko Sung-hyun and Jae Hwan-kim kept up the dominant display from the South Korean competitors by beating Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han of Chinese Taipei 21-16, 21-16 in the men’s doubles.

Top seeds Yang Lee and Jhe-Huei Lee of Chinese Taipei await in the final after they battled to a 14-21, 21-10, 21-17 win over Chung Eui-Seok and Duk Young-kim.
