Cuba Domadores warmed up for their last match of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) regular season by thrashing Ukraine Otamans 5-0 at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in Havana this evening.

Last year’s WSB runners-up face China Dragons in their final Group A encounter tomorrow and will go into it full of confidence after claiming revenge for their 3-2 away defeat to Ukraine earlier in the season.

The home crowd first witnessed light flyweight Joahnys Argilagos demonstrate his precocious talent against Otamans' national champion Denys Kozaruk.

The 19-year-old world champion, who has already won six of his nine WSB bouts, was on the front foot from the outset and won comfortably despite a second round comeback from his opponent.

Team-mate and London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Robeisy Ramirez put in a stellar second and third round to defeat WSB debutant Ivan Soloviov by TKO at bantamweight.

Soloviov had initially surprised his exalted opponent as he went on the attack from the start but Ramirez’s class ultimately told.

The high-quality performances continued to flow from the home team with light welterweight Yasniel Toledo, the 2015 World Championship bronze medallist, dazzling his opposite number Denys Pesotskyy with his mesmerising footwork and technically sound counter attacks to win all five rounds.

With the match and a third successive play-off place secure, it was left to world middleweight champion Arlen Lopez to put on a show in his clash with Otamans’ Taras Holovashchenko.

A succession of rapid combinations proved too much for Holovashchenko, who lost by TKO in the final round.

Heavyweight Erislandy Savon, nephew of three-time Olympic champion Felix Savon who was ringside, rounded off a dominant night for Cuba as the 25-year-old won all five rounds in his bout with Dmytro Lisovyi.

Ukraine remain in second place in Group A and face a crucial contest with Turkiye Conquerors in Istanbul on Saturday (April 2).

A win will be enough to see them claim the second play-off place.

As well as the Domadores' meeting with China in Havana, tomorrow's WSB action will also see Rafako Hussars Poland face Argentina Condors in Kraków and the Russian Boxing Team go up against Caciques Venezuela in Moscow with both matches in Group C.

In Group B, the USA Knockouts welcome Morocco Atlas Lions to Miami.
