France's Perrine Laffont claimed the maiden International Ski Federation (FIS) Moguls World Cup win of her career today in the first of two events in Tazawako in Japan.

Laffont earned the second highest score in qualification before stepping it up a gear in the super final where she won with a tally of 78.91.

Canada's Chloe Dufour-Lapointe was awarded 78.06 for second with Audrey Robichauld, another Canadian, ranked at 77.83 for bronze.

“I tried to stay focused and show my best skiing," said 17-year-old Laffont.

"I did well on the course and jumps and ended up winning.

"It is my first podium and the first victory of the season for me so it just feel amazing."

In the overall standings, Chloe's sister Justine Dufour-Lapointe leads the way with 420 points after failing to progress from the semi-final today.

Chloe has 398 points with Laffont now third overall on 269.

In the men's competition, American Brad Wilson made an incredible return to action after an injury lay-off since December 2014.

The 23-year-old injured his knee in Ruka, Finland and has spent more than a year rehabbing for his return to the World Cup circuit.

His return couldn't be more impressive as he won the super final with a tally of 86.14.

“I didn’t get any sleep last night," Wilson said.

"I was almost more nervous than my very first World Cup back in 2011.

"To put down the first run to my feet and make the finals was a weight off my shoulders.

"Since I qualified 15th, I just laid it all out on the line and I was able to put it together.”

Canada's OIympic silver medallist Mikaël Kingsbury was second on 86.09 with Matt Graham of Australia third on 83.05.

Kingsbury leads the way overall on 505 points, a 150 point advantage over Graham ahead of a dual moguls competition tomorrow.
