France's Marie Bochet is a leading contender for the monthly award ©Getty ImagesFive-time world champion Alpine skier Marie Bochet leads the nominations for the International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) Athlete of the Month award for March, with a swimmer, cyclist, powerlifter and a table tennis player also nominated.

France's Bochet made light of her tender age of 21 by scooping all five standing class titles at the World Championships in Panaroma, after securing the same quintet of titles at the 2013 event in Sestriere.

This made her the first person to win all five titles at two consecutive Championships.

She is joined by two other women in the six-strong line up, with Northern Ireland's Bethany Firth nominated after setting 200m individual medley, 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke world records at a British Para-Swimming International Meet in Glasgow.

Firth, who competed at last summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, is also a nominee for the inaugural International Federation for sport for athletes with an intellectual disability (INAS) Awards ahead of a ceremony in April.

Alyda Norbruis of The Netherlands is also chosen after a superb set of performances at her home Para-cycling World Championships in Apeldoorm, winning time trial, pursuit and scratch races, lowering her own time trial world record by 0.043 seconds in the process.

The female trio will be up against Egyptian powerlifter Sherif Othman, who broke the under 59 kilograms world record three times at the IPC Powerlifting World Cup in Dubai last month.

His final lift of 210kg was more than three times his bodyweight and added 16kg to the previous world record.

New Zealand's Alpine skier Corey Peters is also nominated after two World Championship titles, while the group is completed by Ukrainian table tennis player, Maksym Nikolenko, who is chosen after winning class 7 singles and team gold at the Ligano Masters in Italy.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees and International Federations, with US Nordic skier Andrew Soule and Dutch snowboarder Chris Vos the two winners so far in 2015.

The public has until 12:00  on Thursday (April 9) to vote for their favourite nominee,  with more information on how votes can be cast available via the IPC website here
