The Paralympic bronze medallist made history by becoming the first US athlete to win five medals at the IPC Nordic Skiing World Championships on home snow in Cable, Wisconsin.

The sit skier won silver in the 7.5 kilometres and 12.5km biathlon races, as well as the 10km cross country, and bronze in the 1km sprint and the 15km cross country races.

Soule secured the Athlete of the Month title by garnering 37 per cent of the public vote, ahead of British snowboarder Ben Moore, who won the first ever snowboard-cross World Cup head-to-head race in Aspen, with 34 per cent.

Other athletes that made it on to the shortlist were Dutch wheelchair tennis player Jiske Griffioen, Ukraine's Oleksandra Kononova, who won six world titles at Cable 2015, Norwegian sailor Bjørnar Erikstad and the French Nordic skiing relay team, who claimed a shock victory over Paralympic champions Russia in the 4x2.5km relay.

The nominations were compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees and International Federations, before the public voted for the winner on the IPC website.
