Katie Taylor is eyeing an unprecedented sixth straight European title in Bucharest tomorrow ©AFP/Getty ImagesIreland's Olympic boxing gold medallist Katie Taylor is on the cusp of more success as she sealed a place in the final at the European Boxing Confederation (EUBC) Women's Championships with a unanimous points win over Bulgarian Denista Eliseeva in Bucharest.

Eliseeva was the last women to beat Taylor back in February 2011 at the Strandja Multi-Nations Championships on home soil in Bulgaria, but the Irishwoman put the record straight at the Polyvalent Hall with a dominant display in the 60 kilogram weight division.

The 28-year-old year has held the European title since 2005 and will be aiming for a sixth consecutive win when she takes on France's Estelle Mossely in tomorrow's final.

"Honoured to be representing Ireland in another European final," tweeted the woman from Bray, County Wicklow, after her win.

"Thanks for all the support, it's incredible."

Mossely denied a repeat of the London 2012 final after she surprisingly overcame Russia's Sofya Ochigava with a 3-0 win.

Clare Grace was unable to make it a double for Ireland on the day as she lost out to English rival Stacey Copeland in the 69kg class.

Copeland looked impressive on her way to a unanimous points win and will take on Azerbaijan's Elena Vystropova, who also secured a 3-0 victory over home fighter Mihaela Cristiana.

There was more success for England in the 64kg division as Natasha Jonas despatched another of Romania's challengers with a second round technical knockout of Simona Sitar.

The woman from Liverpool now takes on Russian Anastasia Beliakova who defeated Pole Kinga Siwa.

Russia will have two more boxers challenging for gold in Bucharest in the form of Saina Sagataeva and Zinaida Dobrynina and both will be taking on Bulgarians.

Sagataeva defeated Frenchwoman Wassila Lkhadiri in the 51kg category and will take on Stoyka Petrova, one of three Bulgarians to make it through after her win over Katalin Ancsin.

Dobrynina, who despatched Alessia Mesiano of Italy, will take on Svetlana Staneva in the 57kg decider after she overcame Ukraine's Maryna Malovna.

The third Bulgarian representative comes in the 48kg division in the form of Sevda Asenova, who dominated Turkey's Ayse Gagrir and she will take on Romanian Steluta Duta who defeated Anne Marie Stark of Germany.

Marinela Radu will also be flying the flag for the home nation and she will be taking on Ukrainian Durnyeva Liliya in the 81kg final after they overcame Anamarija Marsic of Croatia and Hungary's Petra Szatmar respectively.

Italy has two shots at European gold also with Marzia Davide and Flavia Severin through to tomorrow's deciders.

Davide is set to take on Poland's Ewelina Wicherska at 54kg after they took care of Elena Saveleva and Marine Rostan of France.

Severin defeated Romania's Elena Luminita Turcin and will take on Maria Kovacs of Hungary after she overcame Emine Bozduman.

Sarah Scheurich absolutely dominated her 75kg semi-final bout with Leyla Javadova of Azerbaijan to set up a final meeting with Mireille Fontijn Nouchka of the Netherlands who defeated Hungary's Timea Nagy.
