Australia came away with four world titles from last year's World Championships in Baie-Comeau, Canada and will be hoping for at least a similar haul when they head to South Carolina for the five days of action from August 28 to September 1.

Carol Cooke, David Nicholas and Michael Gallagher all secured World Championship crowns last year and are back in the squad to defend those titles.

All three were in impressive form at the recent Australian Para-cycling Road Championships in Echuca, with Cooke and Nicholas securing doubles in the women's T2 and men's C3 time trial and road race events respectively.

Cooke will be defending both T2 titles in Greenville, while Nicholas is the reigning C3 time trial world champion.

Double Paralympic champion Gallagher is one of a number of athletes looking to add road world titles to wins on the track at the World Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico, last month.

Gallagher will be out to retain his C5 road time trial crown from Canada to follow on from his individual pursuit win on the track in Mexico.

Sue Powell, Jayme Richardson and the men's tandem combination of Matt Formston and pilot Michael Curran were all crowned world champions on the track in Aguascalientes and will be looking to maintain that form when they switch to the road.

Powell, who won two road world titles in 2011, secured C4 time trial and road race wins in Echuca earlier this month and will be looking to better her bronze medals at last year's World Championships.

Nigel Barley in the H4 category and Alistair Donohue in the C5 also claimed bronze medals in Baie-Comeau and will be looking to build on good performances in the recent Australian Championships.

Alexandra Green and Bianca Woolford complete the women's team in the C4 and T1 classes respectively, while H1 athlete Craig Parsons and Stuart Tripp, who also did the double in Echuca in the H5 category, complete the men's line-up.

More than 400 of the world's best Para-cyclists from around 40 countries are expected to descend on Greenville this summer for the Championships.
