World number two David Wagner triumphed in the first round of the men’s quad event at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Cajun Classic in Baton Rouge.

The American was the clear favourite heading into his tie against Sweden’s Anders Hard and lived up to the billing by earning a 6-2, 6-1 win.

He will now face Mika Ishikawa, after the Canadian sealed a 6-1, 6-2 victory over American wildcard David Jordan.

Lucas Sithole was a straight sets 6-4, 6-0 winner against Britain’s Antony Cotterill, with the South African now set to take on Brazil’s Ymanitu Silva.

There will be an all-British quarter-final tie between James Shaw and Andy Lapthorne, after the pair earned victories over Canada’s Gary Luker and Japan’s Shota Kawano respectively.

British success continued in the men’s wheelchair singles event, with Alfie Hewett sealing a 6-4, 6-1 win over South Korea’s Ha-Gel Lee.

Brazil’s Daniel Rodigues won his first round tie to set up a clash with Hewett, the Wimbledon men’s doubles winner with Gordon Reid.

Rodigues was a 6-2, 7-5 winner against South Korea’s Sung-Bong Han.

World number seven Stefan Olsson of Sweden was among those to reach the quarter-finals, having beaten Australia’s Keegan Oh-Chee 6-2, 6-2.

The Swedish player will be the favourite for his clash against American Casey Ratzlaff, who edged past his compatriot Chris Herman 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 in their first round match.

In the women’s singles, the Netherland’s Marjolein Buis triumphed 6-0, 6-0 against Maria Florencia Moreno of Argentina.

Buis will now meet the United States’ Dana Mathewson, who was a 7-5, 6-4 winner over Japan’s Manami Tanaka.
