Hungary's Viktor Knoch has been elected to the International Skating Union (ISU) Athletes' Commission as the short track speed skating representative.

It follows the formation of an athletes' panel at last year's ISU Congress in Dubrovnik.

He was elected by fellow competitors during the ongoing ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Rotterdam.

The 27-year-old is a three-time Winter Olympian who won a silver medal as part of the Hungarian 5,000 metres relay team at the 2015 World Championships in Moscow.

He has also won four silver and four bronze medals at European Championship level.

He joins the synchronised skating representative Nathalie Lindqvist of Sweden and the speed skating choice, Luiza Zlotkowska of Poland.

Three figure skating representatives are still to be chosen.

"We are pleased with the turn out and have now passed the half way point to complete the Athletes' Commission," said ISU President Jan Dijkema.

"The ISU looks forward to working with the Athletes' Commission as soon as it is completed at the beginning of April.

"I believe the ISU is taking positive steps to improve the involvement of skaters within the decision making process of the ISU."
