South Korea’s Kim Jae Hyeong and Song Jiyung won the respective men’s and women’s recurve gold medals as action concluded today at the second stage of the Indoor Archery World Cup in Thailand’s capital Bangkok.

Kim overcame number one seed Gye Dong Hyun in the men’s final, shooting a more accurate 10 than his fellow countryman in a single-arrow shoot-off to secure a 6-5 win.

Gye had earlier come from 4-0 down to draw level with Kim after shooting two consecutive sets of 30.

Both shot perfectly in the final three-arrow series to force the tiebreaker, where Kim came out on top.

South Korea’s Lee Jong Young beat India’s Atanu Das 6-4 in the bronze medal match.

The women’s recurve final also went to a single-arrow shoot-off as Song’s 10 measured closer to the middle than that of compatriot and world record holder Park Sehui.

Between them, the pair shot eight perfect sets in a high-quality encounter.

The bronze medal went the way of Jeon Hunyoung, who breezed to a 6-0 victory over fellow South Korean Kim Hyejin.

In the men’s compound gold medal match, The Netherlands’ Mike Schloesser narrowly defeated the United States’ Bridger Deaton 148-146.

Both archers finished with six arrows in the middle, but Schloesser - the favourite after shooting a near-perfect 599 in yesterday’s ranking round - was too far ahead to be caught.

Spain’s Alberto Blazquez edged France’s Fabien Delobelle 144-141 to take the bronze medal.

The women’s compound final was also extremely tight, with Great Britain’s Sara Prieels shooting two 10s in the final end - including a high-pressure last arrow - to better South Korea’s So Chae Won by a single point, 141-140.

The bronze medal was won by South Africa’s Danelle Wentzel, a 146-144 winner at the expense of Russia’s Natalia Avdeeva.

The third stage of the Indoor Archery World Cup is scheduled to take place in French city Nîmes from January 20 to 22.
