March 7 - The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) will transform Times Square in New York into an Olympic Village for the day on April 18, exactly 100 days before the start of London 2012.
Supporters will be invited to join leading US athletes for the Team USA Road to London celebrations, where sports demonstrations, giveaways, autograph opportunities and interactive sport experiences will be on offer.
The event will be presented in conjunction with Hilton HHonors, the hotel chain's worldwide loyalty programme.
Jeff Diskin, a senior vice-president of Hilton Worldwide, said: "Hilton HHonors is proud to sponsor Team USA and the Road to London Celebration, which will bring the passion of the Games and the athletes to life, connecting fans to the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games."
The event, beginning at 10am and running until 6pm, is free of charge.
Among the sports for which there will be demonstrations are beach volleyball, BMX cycling, boxing, fencing, gymnastics, judo, sitting volleyball, taekwondo and track and field.
Fans can also cycle the London 2012 Olympic course, row against friends or lift weights as part of the interactive events.
The 1948 US Olympic team who went to the last Games in London will be there, as well as currently unconfirmed Olympians and Paralympians and surprise celebrity guests.
Sponsors for the celebration will be BP, Chobani, The Hartford, ISM, McDonald's, Oakley, PR Bar, Samsung, TD Ameritrade and TOPPS.
"We are delighted to give Americans a very special experience of what the London Games will be like by bringing Olympic and Paralympic sport, our athletes and the excitement of London to Times Square," said USOC chief marketing officer Lisa Baird.
"This event is all about connecting Americans to our talented athletes as they strive to represent what is best about our country on the world's biggest stage.
"We invite New York to give a special cheer to our athletes on their Road to London."
