United World Wrestling (UWW) has announced that Dalyan in Turkey will host the 2017 Beach Wrestling World Championships.

Action will take place in the beach town between October 13 and 15.

The championships will feature men’s and women’s wrestling in all eligible age categories.

Cadets, juniors and seniors are all set to compete during the three-day event.

“Beach wrestling is one of our organisation’s most exciting and fastest-growing disciplines,” said UWW president Nenad Lalovic.

“The Turkish Wrestling Federation is certain to put on a great competition and we look forward to seeing our athletes compete in the sand.”

Senior competitors will battle in men's 70 kilograms, 80kg, 90kg and over-90kg divisions.

Women will contest 60kg, 70kg and over-70kg.

Organisers have produced a promotional video for the event highlighting "the area and wrestling heritage" of Turkey.

The Turkish Wrestling Federation has requested that interested National Federations send their entry forms immediately.

It is the second time that Turkey has welcomed the event with Antalya playing host in 2006.
