Iranian ice hockey players declared ineligible

I mentioned yesterday that there was some confusion over whether Iran and Macau's ice hockey match went ahead. I can confirm the match did take place, with Macau reportedly winning the match 8-1.

The match and result, however, does not appear on the official results for the Games. insidethegames has been told that a number of Iranian players have been declared ineligible to compete in the Games.

The issue relates to the players concerned not having lived in Iran for the past three years, while there are other suggestions some players may have represented other nations.

Their matches are still going ahead, effectively as friendlies, but are not included in the official results of the Games.
