Cuba Domadores started their World Series of Boxing (WSB) title defence off perfectly with a 5-0 win over Caciques Venezuela in Havana today.

The Group A clash started well for the Cubans begin well as Johanys Argilagos, a bronze medallist from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, won the light-flyweight bout against Jefferson Blanco with a unanimous points decision.

This became the theme of the night as the next three fights saw the hosts succeed in the same way.

Javier Ibanez Diaz beat Yoni Blanco in the bantamweight bout before the light-welterweight clash saw Andy Cruz Gomez see off Yoelvis Hernandez.

The middleweight fight was won by Rio 2016 gold medallist Arlen Lopez over Keiber Gonzalez and then the match was capped off with a first round stoppage as Erislandy Savon, who won bronze at last year's Games and nephew of three-time Olympic champion Felix Savon, was too good for Ronald Gonzalez.

All the bouts were won on points with Heroicos boxers Yurberjen Martinez and Jhon Martinez being given their respective light-flyweight and bantamweight success with split decisions.

Argentina’s Ronan Nahuel Sanchez got the hosts on the board with a unanimous win over Jose Tordecilla in the light-welterweight fight.

But this was followed by two unanimous victories for Jorge Vivas in the middleweight bout and then heavyweight boxer Deivis Julio for the visitors.

Competition continues tomorrow with Group C clashes between Patriot Boxing Team of Russia and Astana Arlans Kazakhstan.
