Germany's Dorothee Schneider claimed a convincing victory at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Cup Dressage leg in Salzburg today.

The world number three, an Olympic champion at Rio 2016 in the team competition, triumphed on board Showtime FRH at the Western European League event in the Austrian city. 

She finished more than five full percentage points in front of her nearest rival, tallying a score of 85.292 from the judges.

Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez, riding Lorenzo, claimed second place for Spain with 80.273 as Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Unee BB finished third for Germany with 79.275.

"Showtime was a bit sensitive in the arena today but he worked very well," said 47-year-old Schneider.

Kristy Oakley of Australia still leads the overall Western European League standings with 44 points as riders aim to qualify for the FEI Dressage Final which will take place in American city Omaha from March 27 next year.

German Fabienne Lutkemeier and Swiss Marcela Krinke Susmelj follow close behind, both on 41.

The next leg of the series will take place at London Olympia from Tuesday (December 13).
