South Africa will be out to continue their winning start to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series season this weekend as the country hosts the second round in Cape Town.

Having defeated Fiji 26-14 in the final of the series' first round in Dubai last week, South Africa find themselves top of the standings.

The Springboks, runners-up in the past four World Sevens Series and reigning Commonwealth Games gold medallists, are in Pool A and face Australia, Russia and the United States on the opening day of action tomorrow at the Cape Town Stadium.

Captain Philip Snyman admitted home expectations are high, especially given that South Africa won last year's Cape Town Sevens competition.

"We realise our fans are looking at us to deliver the goods and we want nothing else," he told Fox Sports Asia.

"We only have this great opportunity to play at home once every year and are determined to give it our best shot.

"We will not leave anything out there."

Fiji, who claimed gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will be aiming to bounce back from their disappointment in Dubai and play in Pool B against France, Kenya and Japan.

"We will look at ourselves first and how we want to prepare and make sure that we put our best foot forward and be the best version of ourselves as we try and attack this last tournament and finish 2016 on a high note," Fiji coach Naca Cawanibuka told Fox Sports Asia.

England finished third in Dubai and are the top seeds in Pool C, where they will face Argentina, Canada and multiple World Sevens Series champions New Zealand.

Pool D is made up of Samoa, Scotland, Uganda and top seeds Wales, who finished fourth in Dubai.

Scotland meet Samoa in the event’s opening match followed by Wales’ clash with Uganda.

Yesterday, the 16 team captains appeared at the famous Newlands Cricket Ground during a break in play at the annual Springboks versus Proteas - the South African cricket team - charity match.

Captains posed for photos before bowling against the Proteas and each other in front of the thousands of spectators gathered at the venue.
