Hungary’s capital Budapest will host the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup for the next three years, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced.

This year’s finals are due to be held from September 27 to October 2 as Canada and Czech Republic aim to defend the respective titles.

The competition was first held in 1985 when 44 nations took part in regional qualifying with the top 16 boys' and 16 girls' teams moving through to the final in Japanese city Kobe.

Many of the world’s leading players have represented their country in the competition, including Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, who have 25 Grand Slam titles between them.

The 2015 finals in Madrid saw Canada capture their maiden Junior Davis Cup with a 2-1 victory over Germany in the final.

Czech Republic also registered a 2-1 win as they claimed their fourth girls' title at the expense of the United States.

Russia finished third in the boys' competition with a 3-0 win over Japan, but the country missed out on a top-three finish in the girls' event after losing 3-0 against Canada.

Budapest, which is bidding to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games along with Los Angeles, Paris and Rome, has never previously hosted the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup.
