Germany’s Marcus Ehning will be bidding to write his name in the equestrian history books as he goes in search of a record fourth International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Cup Jumping Final title when the event comes to the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas tomorrow.

Ehning, along with Austria's Hugo Simon, Rodrigo Pessoa of Brazil and teammate Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, already has three titles to his name but he will come up against a top field field in the American city.

Olympic champion Steve Guerdat of Switzerland will also be competing as he aims to build on his triumph at London 2012, although he has endured a difficult season so far as he languishes down in ninth place in the overall FEI World Jumping rankings.

World number one and defending champion Daniel Deusser comes into the event in fine form and he is an integral part of the German line-up, which also features Ehning, Marco Kutscher and Hans-Dieter Dreher.

Germany currently hold the record for most FEI World Cup Jumping title wins with 10 and the formidable Deusser and history-chasing Ehning are two of the top candidates to take victory in Las Vegas.

However, the competition will be fierce and Rich Fellers on board Flexible, who became America’s first World Cup Jumping champion for 25-years when he clinched the title in s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, back in 2012, will have the backing of a partisan home crowd.

Fellers’ stalwart of a horse Flexible has endured a torrid career with injuries but he has constantly battled back, and the stallion will be the oldest in the line-up in Las Vegas.

On the other side of the age spectrum, Ireland’s impressive young talent Bertram Allen will also be full of confidence following a decent season to date.

The 19-year-old sealed two excellent wins in the Winter in the Western European League, and he will be joined in the field by fellow youngster Jos Verlooy of Belgium.

The event is due to conclude on Sunday (April 19) and will see 42 athletes from 20 nations vying for the chance to become FEI World Cup Jumping champion.
