February 9 - The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has called on candidates to put themselves forward for election to the Executive Board and Committees.
Candidature forms have been sent to the Member Federations with an accompanying letter from IWF President Dr Tamás Aján of Hungary, who is also an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member.
Candidates can put themselves forward for a four-year term on the IWF Executive Board or one of the three IWF Committees which are the Technical Committee, the Medical Committee or the Coaching and Research Committee.
Candidature forms must be submitted to the IWF by March 20 this year, with the elections to be held at the IWF's Congress in Moscow on May 20 and 21.
"On the occasion of the IWF Congress in Moscow, on May 20-21, 2013, elections will take place to the Executive Board and Committees for the next term," says Aján's letter.
"We should all be aware that those office bearers who will be elected to the various positions on the IWF bodies will make a significant impact on the development of international weightlifting.
"Therefore, all Member Federations must be aware of their great responsibility when putting forward candidates."
All candidatures must be sent to the IWF secretariat at the world governing bodies' headquarters in Budapest before the March 20 deadline by electronic mail or post.
