It has committed NPR3.8 million (£22,900/$38,900/€29,000) to support national sports associations across the country.

As part of that, each of the 26 sports associations will be given NPR100,000 (£604/$1,026/€764) to help organise national competitions.

NPR10.1 million has been committed for international participation, while NPR4.6 million has been set aside for administrative purposes.

"Developmental plans" within the NOC will be supported by a fund of NPR7.6 million (£45,900/$77,900/€58,000), and NPR3 million (£18,100/$30,700/€22,900) will be spent on Olympic Solidarity programmes.

The budget for the next 12 months was presented at the seventh meeting of the General Assembly by NOC treasurer Chhime Urgen Gurung.

He told members the NOC will receive a grant of more than NPR10.5 million (£63,400/$107,000/€80,200) from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Olympic Solidarity Movement for the current financial year.

According to the NOC, it is short of NPR10.7 million (£64,600/$109,800/€81,700).

Gurung said the shortfall will be plugged via programmes within the IOC and OCA.

As well as discussions around the budget and a review of expenditure during the previous financial year, the Assembly also ruled that associations must hold their elections within the stipulated timeframe, and failure to do so will see them stripped of their right to vote at the Assembly.
